This is the second in a series of YouTube videos demonstrating simple animations you can create for you garden railroad using simple motor and gear setups. These videos were created by Noel Wilson, a large scale modeler who is always willing to help others in the hobby.
Check out Noel’s Animation Ideas part 2 here:
In this second installment of the Animation Ideas series, Noel shows you some of the terminology used in mechanical animation. The “throw”, “pivot”, and “rod” length let you control the motion in your animation. Noel provides more close up on how to bend the wires show you how to achieve the effects in cow and “boy turning head” and adds a porch swing animation and a cowboy having trouble with some bears using a cheap battery clock to provide 360 degree motion.
