Off topic – Door to Imagination

2-outsideI go in and out of the side door from my garage to the side yard where my train layout is all the time. I haul the trains out and haul them in and I don’t think about it much. Just in and out through a plain off-white door that takes you out of the garage by the garbage cans and into the side yard.

Then my youngest daughter, who has much more imagination than her father, asked me one day if she could paint the side door. I said sure and was really surprised with how her simple idea, once she translated it to paint, jazzed up the side yard and makes me smile now every time I go through the doorway.

1-insideSo taken was I with how some acrylic paints could so brighten up my day I commissioned her to paint something train related on the inside of the door. This is currently a work in progress but she borrowed a yard stick and is making me that elusive “light at the end of the tunnel.”

Let me know what delights you in your garden layout! -TJ
